Lake Village Bodies of Water

Known as America's Great Road, Big River, Father of the Water and other nicknames, the Mississippi River has long played an important part in the history of the United States. The river was once a major exploration route and is now host to a myriad of recreational and commercial activities. The river flows through or adjacent to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. The river is part of one of the world's largest river systems.

Lake Chicot is a former channel of the Mississippi River and is considered the largest oxbow lake in North America and Arkansas' largest natural lake. The lake, which measures 20 mi (32 km) in length, is a protected area and is a popular sporting area with outdoor water enthusiasts and anglers.
